How to Make JackFruit Curry Indian Style ( Recipes + Video)

Today, I am going to show you how to make jackfruit curry in Indian style.  It’s again another spicy and mouth watering curry. Jack fruit is mainly found in the spring season to mid of summer. But, as spring starts , Jack fruit start growing from small buds. And when they get matured but not yet ripened, they are great for making curry. Ripened jack fruit are yellow and sweet in taste. But when they are green, their curry can lick your mouth. So let’s learn to cook jack fruit curry in Indian style.


1. 1/2 kg raw jack fruit

2.  2 + 1/2 average onions

3. 3 tomatoes

4. 3-4 bay leaves (Tez Patta)

5. One cinnamon piece or 1 tbs cinnamon powder ( Dal chini)

6. 6-8 cloves pieces

7. 1 table spoon turmeric powder

8. 1 table spoon of hot spice ( garam masala)

9. 1 table spoon of cumin seeds. (Jeera)

10. Few coriander leaves about half of cup for garnishing.


1. Clean the Jack fruit you brought very well without any sap.

2. Put the pressure cooker on oven / gas stove. We are not going to cook in normal curved pan because, Jack fruit are little harder in nature. It is better to cook in pressure cooker. But yes, you can cook in curved Indian style of pan as well.

3. Put 3-4 table spoon of oil and let it warm.

4. Once oil is warm, put cumin seeds, onion and fry them for a while till onion gets brown.

5. Now, put jack fruit pieces on the pressure cooker and stir well so that all the oil, cumin seeds and brown onion will get mixed.

6. After sometime, put the turmeric powder(jeera) & Hot spice (garam masala) and stir them well.

7. Keep stirring and covering for 1-2 minutes.

8. Put tomatoes and salt according to your taste and keep the stirring and covering, don’t let the vegetables to stick on pan.

9. Put now cinnamon (dalchini) & bay leaves (Tez patta) and keep stirring and covering for 1-2 minutes.

10. Put 1 small glass of water and cover the pressure cooker and wait for 1 whistle.

11. After one whistle, wait for sometime to get all the steam out. Once you open cover of the pressure, put the coriander in the jack fruit curry you prepared. And cover it for 1 minute.
